Things You Never Knew Your Cellphone Could

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Cellphone can help you...

Cellphone can help you...

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for

survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -

*EMERGENCY*

*I*

*The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.* If you find

yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an

emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to

establish the emergency number for you,and interestingly this number 112

can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

*II*

*Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote

keys?*

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call

someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a   foot from your car door and have the person

at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on

their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your

keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,

and if you can reach someone who has the other “remote” for your car, you

can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Editor’s Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car

over a cell phone!”*

*III*

Subject: Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery isvery low , you are expecting animportant call

and you don’t have a charger.Nokia instrument comes with a reserve

battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with

this reserve and the instrument will show a50% increase in battery. This

reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

AND

*IV*

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits on

your phone:

* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your

handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get

stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They

will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the

SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever

stole it can’t use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile

phones.

we have tried to open the car by using mobile phone. it did not work. I will try on another car and see if this actually work or not. we were trying this a Old BMW car.

Try looking as snopes. Almost all of these are crap

This is a gimick. Cell phones use different frequencies than the remotes, the battery code only changes the sound quality, and in the wrong direction in this case, and the *112 number only works in certain countries.

… five seconds of Googling gave me this: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/business/a/cellphone_tips.htm

It’s the exact same tips, only it debunks most of them. 112 is really only in Europe, unlocking a car with a cell phone is completely impossible (phones don’t transmit the right freqencies), the code for reserve battery power enhances voice quality (thus lowering battery life), and you’d get a serial, but most providers don’t even need or have it on record.

    So… better luck next time?

Didn’t Mythbusters disproved the whole cellphone unlocking car thing?

  6. strange on July 10, 2011 at 7:57 am

it will never work on any car. The remote transmits radio waves which a cell phone cannot reproduce by “hearing” what the remote broadcasts from another location. We need to contact the internet regarding this myth being filtered out as this is the millionth posting I’ve seen on the subject.

The car one is bullshit – cell phones don’t pick up that type of signal

  8. A on August 4, 2011 at 6:08 pm

The car one is a myth that any frequency, not just sound, will travel through a cell phone. It’s not true. And with the *#06# one I can shut down any and every mobile I can get my hands on, or anyone I can convince over the internet to give me the number and service provider while stating that I’m as confused as they are.

Having a car with a push-to-start system (2010 Toyota Venza), I’ve successfully unlocked my car using the cellphone method. Not sure if it’s the RF in my keys vs your unlock method, but it works just fine. Take that haters!

Sorry to tell you but 112 will work on a T-Mobile cell phone. This was my husbands extension at work and even if I had already connected to the phone system at his work and I dialed his extension it would connect me to 911 talk about embarrassing!!

unlocking the car worked for me i couldnt believe it but it worked just fine i have a 2010 model car if it makes a differance.

wow. look like it works for some of the guys and for some it want i guess it has to do with the make and model of car…

  13. Razi on August 28, 2011 at 7:06 pm

I’m sure half of you didn’t even try it. We tried it multiple times and every time the door unlocked and locked over the phone. Can’t say anything about the rest on the list but I know who to call if I lock my keys in the car!
